Scratched motherboard

While screwing in a screw for my CPU heatsink i made a broad (roughly 1mm) scratch on a line on the backplate. I can see some metal I think. Is my mbo dead?

If the trace is not punctured to the point of:

a. the path being gone

b. it crossing over with another path/trace

I doubt that broke it.

Do you have a picture, to more easily judge it ?

I guess turn it on and see what happens. Be ready to yank the power cord if stuff starts to spark, though that is unlikely

I tried installing the mbo already and it's going to take forever to take the mbo out. But, as far as i remembee, it was a scrape that crosses over 2 lines

The fan LED flickered on before turning off. It only does this if i try turning the power on after waiting 5 or so minutes

What do you mean by that? If they not aligned than this mean you didn’t screw the mobo in ?!?

No, they align with the holes but not perfectly. I can screw the screws in but the standoffs dont slot into the holes

for mine they dont have to be lined up perfectly it can be off just slightly  and i can still screw it in

I see, so it's probably the scratch in tbe mobo causing the issue?

Not at the moment. I would have to complety take my PC apart to show it, since it's next to the screw hole for the heat sink on the back of the mobo. It is a somewhat thick scrape (around 1mm) that crosses over 2 traces. It looks like a white'ish silvery line and im pretty sure i can see some silvery metal.

Pc doesn't even boot up or turn on. It jist had the fan LED flicker once and that's the only sign of the PC having any power at al
