Very slow wifi on prebuilt! Help appreciated!!

Recently bought a pre-built.

Arrived today.

On my old system, got download speeds of 9Mb/s, not ideal but what I had to work with.

 

Currently trying to install Steam on new system, connected to same network, but am only getting about 40Kb/s.

50 min estimated download time just to download the Steam client?!?!

 

Is this a problem with the on mobo wifi, a problem with my router, or a problem with Windows 10?

I would try disconnecting and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi. Try both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. From there you can try re-installing the Wi-Fi driver or try a different Wireless NIC all together to see if things change. If they do, probably a hardware issue. If they don't, probably a Windows issue.

I have resolved the issue by plugging in the antenna that I missed in the box.

Grade A idiot user error.
