Posted January 7, 2020 So I am building a mini itx system for my partner and I am torn for what CPU to get. She wants to play games but is also a photographer so she will want to use programs like photoshop and video editing software. I can get a used ryzen 5 1600 for $100 CAD or a brand new R5 2600 for $160 at my local memory express. I am just wondering which CPU will be best for my use case? Thanks! Posted January 7, 2020 R5 1600, just because 2600 isn't a big gain over it and should not be chosen for this much more. Spend the extra money on RAM or SSD or GPU, literally anything but the 2600. Posted January 7, 2020 Try to find a new 1600 "AF" chip. They're about $85 USD new, but they're a little better than an original 1600 and not quite as good as a 2600. The value is real good though. It should be what's offered currently from retailers that move a good bit of stock, as the first 1600 variant stock should be long gone.
