Used canon t3i

Flyguygamer

I am borrowing a t3i with the kit lens and a 55-250 lens. It is in decent condition but has been heavily used. What to you think is a fair price to offer to this person to buy this camera and lenses?

350-400$ ? But I guess that is up to you. I have the rebel and it is a good camera.

It is an amazing camera. I am looking for $300. Is that too little?

You say it's "heavily used" but what exactly is its condition.  Is there any problems, what is it's cosmetic condition, does it function properly?  The condition of the lens is also very important.  Typically that camera and lens combo would cost somewhere around $600-$700 USD brand new.

Lenses are in good shape as far as the glass goes but a little off cosmetically. The body has some scratches and dents but is fully functional. The photos show no signs of glass or body damage. Everything works except af on the 18-55 kit lens.

In that case I'd ask around $300-$350 and work from there if he isn't satisfied.  An 18-55 kit can be easily had for around $100-$150.

I think you can use the Magic Lantern firmware to tell you. It runs off the SD card.

I use stock firmware and since it is not my camera I don't think I could use third party firmware. Is there another way?

Ah that's not bad at all.

The lens that doesn't work 100% doesn't really have any value to it at all. Kit lenses are extremely cheap.

I'd say $300 - $375. If the lenses were 100% and the body wasn't damaged I'd say $450 - $500.

Really depends on where you live though. Different markets will warrant different pricing.

You'd need to know your own area in order to judge price.
For example when I lived in Vancouver I had no problem buying and selling camera gear because there are tonnnns of enthusiasts there. You generally didn't get as much for your lower end or used gear, but it was easier to sell.

Where I live now the wages are lower, less population and it's much harder to sell.
