Upgrade from R9 290x for 1440p

Hello folks.

I've been slowly upgrading my main gaming rig.

It recently upgraded from a i7 950 to a Ryzen 5 1600. My gpu is a r9 290x.

It runs perfectly at 1080p and can run at 60fps at high- ultra settings. 

I want to get an new 1440p monitor, but first i need a better gpu that can handle 1440.

 

My budget is $200-300usd. I want the best performance per dollar option.

I was thinking about a 1660 super or maybe waiting until 5600xt releases.

Also I was thinking a used 1070 or vega 56.  These are about $250usd and run 1440p great.

There might also be other options i am not thinking about. 

 

The games I play are mainly racing games (i'm a huge car guy) like forza horizon 4, Dirt rally 2.0, or project cars 2.

I would like to be able to play at 1440p high- ultra settings at 60fps.

Hello fellow Californian. 

 

I see RX 5700 (non-XT) regularly drop into $279-289 territory. Will run 1440P beautifully right out of the box, but if you're feeling a bit adventerous you're a BIOS flash away from almost 5700 XT performance (or bricking your 5700 if you're clumsy).
