bry.yyyy
Go to solution Solved by Slottr,

You can, but it won't work very well

Windows does an okay job at replacing drivers, but it still sucks at getting everything operational without failure

Reinstall windows when you get a new motherboard, just as a common rule

I am the voice of dissension here at LTT, my experience shows a re-install isn't needed even when changing platforms (however, this was almost required in the XP/7 days) but a swap from Intel to newer Intel, you should be just fine, unless you are going from 1st gen to 9th gen or something where it's all radically new tech, then Win10 may squeak.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Reinstalling is not common rule, is more like common myth.

You don't need to reinstall Windows. You can however remove old drivers using Ghostbuster tool. Windows do not use drivers for devices that are not present in the system, so don't worry.

I made lot of that type changes with many completely different configurations (even from core duo to Ryzen with win7) and never had any issues. So in this case "best answer" is at most "common answer".
