Ryzen 5 2600x and gtx 1660 ti

Mando772004

No matter what you'll always have a bottle neck, what you want to do is avoid a severe one. I don't see any problems with that setup, some might say you've got too many cores/threads on the cpu but I just see that as being able to stream while gaming with h264.

do you think that it would be a huge step up from my ryzen 5 2400g? @NotSoEpicMods

Hmm well if you already have a 2400G you may want to save your money since your boost in performance(depending on what you plan on using the pc for) may not be worth the money for a new cpu. That being said I'm not sure what you could sell the 2400G at to offset the cost of a 2600X.

actually it will make a difference for example i get 150 fps in fortnite but i see people with the same gpu just a better cpu get 300fps. i went to my friend's house he has a r5 3600 and a 1660 ti and gets 300fps on fortnite. thats a huge difference if u ask me. @NotSoEpicMods

There are many factors that can effect game performance.

Also, for a little extra you get a R7 2700 or 2700x.

we both have the same ram speed same 16gb ram what else can make his game get double my fps other than the cpu? when my cpu is usage is 80% and my gpu is 60 to 70& doesnt that say something?

Graphical settings, RAM Speed, and the likes can affect game Speed too

Your friend's CPU is definitely helping with the higher FPS and the rest may be the games graphical settings.

You can find a R5 2600x or R7 2700x for cheap sometimes, this will give you a good performance gain but, don't expect it to be the best but, it will handle gaming for a good while.

so theres always a "bottleneck" but thats something thats not noticable in gaming and even in other things its unheared of but other than no bottle necks its actually a pretty good 1080 and even some 1440p pair

A lot of people underestimate the performance improvement going from the 2nd gen Ryzen to 3rd gen. The 3600 is 15% higher performance than the 2600, and 10% higher than the 2600x. It's even 5% higher performance than the 2700x, despite 2 fewer cores and a lower speed.

The 3600 is a great cpu. I went from a 1800x to a 3600x and in some games I saw a 20-35% increase in frame rate which is what I needed on a 144hz monitor

No cpu mobo or ram atm

If you have a 2400g, you might be better off buying a R5 3600 instead of the 2600.

Agreed I went from 2200G to  3600 and performance in many graphical intensive games sky rocketed pretty much.

I even tried my old vs new ram (3000/3200) it makes zero noticeable difference,  but the CPU...

The 2200G was pretty much maxing out all the time in most games,  the 3600 is at 20-30% in most games...

Now if my 1060 would be a 8GB card I wouldn't need to upgrade for years,  but unfortunately 6GB *are* my bottleneck right now (speed maybe too but I can't tell because I simply can't max out my games with so little Vram)

I don't really have a source but in CPUZ benchmark 5% sounds about right in *single core*  multicore the 2700x got it beat by a slight margin.

I had the exact same cpu/video card.  Now I have the super. There is no discernible bottleneck, the CPU is the higher performer although. They are a good match because they are both mid tier products.

Every benchmark site, and every review site. The only exception is with the 2700/x in workloads that specifically benefit from high thread count instead of core performance. (which is NOT gaming) And then the difference is less than 3%.
