Motherboard not recognising ssd

DESTROYER 123503

So i build my pc today and i installed an m.2 ssd on the motherboard and it wont recognise the ssd when i try to install windows on it. The motherboard only has 2 m.2 ssd and i chose the bottom one as i only had the small m.2 ssd availible. Does anyone know this is happening?

The motherboard is called aorus b450 elite.

Try disconnecting the other HDD (power is enough) and then rebooting to see if the BIOS recognizes the SSD. Once you're done installing Windows, you can plug the power back into the other HDD.

This has happened to me a couple of times on a recent build as well and that trick worked like a charm. My other HDD is a 3.5" SATA, I don't know if that matters for this trick or not. I found it while scouring forums.

Make sure the SSD is NVMe and not SATA the bottom port looks like NVMe only going by the motherboard manual

Going on the assumption that you purchased the parts that were suggested to you on this forum, this is my conclusion

Looks like this is the issue;

Going by the manual for the Aorus b450f Elite the last M.2 socket supports up to pcie x2

The "Kingston " Hard drive which I believe is the Kingston A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD that was suggested to you in a previous post for building a PC. Needs 4 lanes to operate. Which your bottom port is only 2 lanes.

socket M.2A is PCIE and SATA

Socket M.2B is Just PCIE.

If a M.2 Sata is used in M.2A, SATA ports 0 and 1 cannot be populated.

That SSD will never work in the bottom port.
