New Build Recommendations (First Build)

Hello all I am looking for some advice on a perspective build of mine in the future. I will detail below following the format but have a few additional questions on when a good time to buy parts is, as I am not in a huge rush to build the PC.

 

1. Budget and Location

I live in Toronto, Canada and will be using $CAD and also have a budget around 1900-2300 CAD.

2. The Aim

The aim of this build is for mostly higher end gaming vis a vis both competitively for games such as overwatch or fortnite as well as more cinematic titles such as cyberpunk 2077 (or witcher) and new jedi fallen order. Also i sometimes tinker with moderate for fun programming and machine learning algorithms but do not really care to much for needing processing power on this machine with this involved as I can always spin up an EC2.

3. Monitors

I already have a 1440p 144HZ asus monitor than i plan on using for this build, however there is potential that i would add a second monitor in the next year or two.

4.Peripherals

I already have a g703 mouse I need to buy a keyboard and would prefer a mechanical one, and i don't need windows 10 i already have a copy.

5. Why upgrading

This is because right now I game using and xbox and want to be able to play games much more smoothly and at higher resolutions, as well as getting the benefits of a more expensive gaming machine, such as ray tracing.

Wait for Black Friday and see what goes on sale, then decide on how to build. It'll change your parts selection.

you can find cheaper 750w psus that work well. also i would go with a 2700x instead of 2800 it is much cheaoer and will still run games well and work for productivity. maybe go with a an amd 5700xt and please my god upgrade that ssd to alteast 1 tb

Get 3700x because 3800x is not worth it.

 

Get RX 5700XT because it performs identical to RTX 2070 Super

 

Get more hard drives. 500GB NVME SSD is not enough.

drop it to a 3700x

add more storage (500gb will get you your OS and maybe 2 or 3 games at most)

If you want the Ray Tracing in sightseeing games like Shadow of Tomb Raider or something, stick with the RTX 2070 SUPER. Though if you drop to the 3700x and wait for black friday sales, you will likely be able to fit an RTX 2080 SUPER in there.
