Weird FPS Drops.

Very weird situation:

If I left the fps uncapped For example in Realm Royale or Fortnite

I get 120 FPS on High (Also regardless of settings fps remains same as PC is bottlenecked by CPU)

And it dips below 100 to 85 sometimes (Every 10 seconds or so)

But never goes behind 85

But If I cap it (Through Vsync to 60)

I get 60 and it oftenly dips to 50 or 55 after 15 seconds or so

The CPU and GPU usage remains 60% and 50% respectively.

I think capping my FPS should have fixed the stuttering.

Can You help me?

What CPU and GPU do you have?  How much memory?  Laptop or desktop?

I do not know about your games but, some games will lower the FPS in certain areas of the map when Vsync is turned on probably to keep gameplay smooth, I have notice this in a few of my games like Forza Motorsport 7 and Sea of Thieves. I get around it by locking my FPS with Riva Tuner.

Did you turn Vsync off and then lock the FPS?

Also, with your setup 60 FPS is probably the best you can hope for in modern shooter games. You are bottlenecked by your CPU and RAM, upgrading to an i5-2400 or better with 8GB of RAM or more will help a lot.

How am i bottlenecked ?

If i do lock the FPS , The GPU and CPU usage reamins balanced at 50-50

And For RAM (Only About 5 gigs is being used while gaming)

And Yes I turned off Vsync then locked But It not works

And maybe its thermal throttling on the CPU/GPU side, regardless of % usage.

Will only Upgrading the ram Fix it?

Your configuration is kinda low end for gaming by today's standards but, it should still handle Fortnite, just at lower settings. If you are getting 50-60 FPS with no stuttering with Vsync on then it is maybe best to leave it on because you will have smoother gameplay. Having your FPS jump allover the place can cause stuttering and that is why I lock my FPS or use Vsync.

Hope this helps a bit

Also, if you want to upgrade for much better performance you may only have to spend $175-$250 in used parts.

It's very weird a low end GPU would only use 50% while heavy gaming no?   I think either you're mistaken or the GPU isn't working correctly .  In modern games it should be at 100% pretty much all the time. (unless those games have *really* low requirements)

And if your CPU would be a bottleneck that would be also at 100% all the time,  or at least often. Something doesn't add up

You could actually test this with 3DMark,  run timespy and compare with other PCs with the same setup... If you're somewhere in the middle your PC is probably working as intended.   if you're on the lower end..   Well something is malfunctioning most likely! (probably GPU or software would be my guess)

I just Upgraded my old machine with this.

The prices of the parts here are terrible.

Like i got the 950 for 110$ used

And other components also over priced.

Just one more Question.

""I didn't reinstall windows after upgrading the Processor and Mobo .Can it be the reason of that stuttering ?

''On Youtube People have same Processor at stock But Have a Lower GPU Like a 750ti But it performs better than mine.

Should I install new Windows?

Actually it's recommended to reinstall windows fresh after a mobo or cpu change, yes.  I still need to do this myself lol :/

its possible to get by without reinstalling but then you really have to be a computer nut and know exactly what you're doing, because windows *will* get messed up with new drivers,  old drivers still present,  etc, etc...  The PC will work,  but not properly.

so yeah,  try that (backup any important data before you do)

What new drivers does windows have to install for a new mobo or CPU? That doesn't make sense to me imo.
