I don't know much about CPUs

Hi, just out of curiosity, what does it mean when I CPU has "hyperthreading," and when is more threads better and why? I'm not very knowledgeable about CPUs.

A thread is basically a simulated core, a core is something a task can be run on. More threads = more stuff can be done together.

This helps a ton in certain workflows, or multitasking (doing multiple things at the same time).

 

Intel has HyperThreading mainly on their i7 and i9 CPU's.

AMD has 'Simultaneous Multithreading', which is the same thing.. That tech is present on Ryzen 5, 7 and 9 CPU's.
