I think im going to upgrade from my 1440p monitor should i get an ultrawide panel or a 144hz gaming monitor instead

What do you want?  Ultrawide or regular wide 144Hz? Or an Ultrawide 144hz?

What's your CPU/GPU, what kind of games?

What budget/country?

I would pick ultrawide because my eyes can't see the difference in refresh rates all that well

I'm also kinda interested in how you broke your monitor but nbd if you don't feel like sharing

why are you limited to choosing ultrawide OR 144hz?

I am using LG's 75hz 3840 X 1600 monitor and those extra 160 vertical pixels over 1440 are magical.

I never liked the text on my 3440 X 1440 monitor but it is as good as my 4k monitor on the LG ultra wide. 

On my modded games that use 4k textures the details show up at 4k but not at 1440p show up at 1600.

On average 1600 ultra wide is only 10 frames harder to run than 1440 ultra wide.

 

The LG 38GL950G-B is a good choice for you because unless I am playing a RTX game or have most settings at ultra I average 100ps or more with my mildy overclocked FTW3  Ultra 2080 ti and 5.1ghz 6 core.

 

LG has removed the "coming soon" from the LG 38GL950G-B page so any day now.

I recommend watching Youtube videos that use your GPU at 1440p and 1080p ultrawide to help you decide what to get.
