Define R4 - Blue Beauty - Build by iFrostys

iFrostys

Welcome to my build log.

The aim of my build is to have a clean looking PC from the inside and out. This means that cable management will be a big part of my build and I will try to individually sleeve my cables. This is not an easy task, but I will not be happy until this build looks 100% clean, and it must be colour coordinated! I may not see the internals of my PC a lot, but it is very important to me that it looks good, because I know how it looks in there and if it looks bad, it will bug me. The build should commence around the 10th April so stay tuned for pictures and updates.

Sweet!

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.

sigh.. yet another Define R4 build. jk :D

I hope you are buying the 3rd generation CPU and motherboard used, otherwise it would seem a little silly not to get the latest gen. (3570k and 4670K is the same price as new. At least where i live)

oh and.. subbed

Sleeving a CX600 is kind of wasteful IMO..

you can just buy a better PSU with ribbon cables.

Yeh I guess I could, but I adore the look of sleeved cables :3.

Why a 3570k?

Good processor, I know it's good had one before and is alright for overclocking.

Yeh I think the CPU's are the same price here too but the Motherboards are different prices. Also, I'm not fimiliar with Haswell and I don't know a nice looking blue motherboard for the new-gen's? Thanks for the sub.

Get a 4670k... Z87 mobo's are far superior.

OS ''extra'' seems legit. Kinda makes sense, I love to fuck around with my bios too! NOT

Well your bios is very important for OC'ing...

I hope that's not the only thing you're going to be doing on that rig. I would play some games, BUT YOU NEED AN OS FOR THAT. I'm only criticizing the placement of your os under ''extra's'' because for practically everyone it's a requirement

Decided to go with a RM650, this way individual sleeving will be worth-while and if I upgrade PSU, I can keep the cables and use on the new one because it's modular:)

Remember that not all modular cables are the same, so you risk blowing up your components if you carry across your sleeved cables.

Generally, as a rule of thumb, upgrading within the RM series is fine, so is going across to the AXi series as they use the same connector plug.

Updates and added a "Sleeving" section. Please let me know if you think that colour scheme will be nice along with the BLUE LED and BLUE LED FANS? (I think it will be cool)

If you are unsure about how to overclock your Intel Haswell CPU, I recommend this tutorial on a Gigabyte board. It holds all the necessarry and useful additional information.

I also recommend to use the legacy BIOS, since the new one can be quite cumbersome to deal with when using a keyboard only.

Reduce > Reuse > Recycle
