Yeah, but the lack of Samsung branding and the visible bezel at the top of the screen gives away that this is 100% not a real S10+ or S10+ 5G

why no dark mode?

Could be some weird engineering sample, but why someone's selling it on a market like this is beyond me

That could explain the lack of branding, but usually samsung slaps a big NOT FOR SALE on the back.
I doubt it though because why would there be a top bezel and not the hold punch?

The counterfeit business is a big business. It's all about scamming people by modifying off-the-shelf cheap models and trying to sell them as their more expensive cousins.

Like I kid you not, the one thing Android has going for it is that each brand has their on visual style, so it's a lot harder to pass off a crappy chinese counterfeit as a top-of-the-line Android device, but since within each brand, the only outside difference tends to be the faceplates, it's possible to stick a higher end faceplate on a lower end model or a stolen device, or even a damaged model and pass it off as the high end model.

Back when the iPhone (original) was released, there was a LOOOOOOT of counterfeit devices out there, Counterfeit iPhones, Counterfeit Nokia N95's, and so on. It becomes really easy to spot a fake if you've seen a lot of them. With current high end devices, it requires knowing what the device actually looks like (use the manufacturer's website for a front, back, button-side and connector-side to confirm), and sometimes a model (eg a Chinese model, Korean model) of the same device will creep into the listings for the domestic (eg US or EU) model and people will jump up and down saying it's counterfeit when really, the manufacturer decided to cheap out with one of the markets, but used the same branding.

So there's always that risk. Personally I'd probably never buy a pre-owned/used device of a phone that is a current or previous model because the possibility of getting a fake or "blocked" (lost/stolen) model is VERY high. Always get the IMEI of the device and then use an IMEI checking service to see if it's been reported as stolen. An IMEI that doesn't work is either fake or stolen.
