Hey guys what would you get?

Do you really need the snapdragon 855 over a much cheaper 845 phone?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The Pixel has an 855+ so it's a bit faster

but I mean a last gen 845 phone is like $300 and still perfectly fine even for like gamecube emulation.

The 855+ is slightly better, someone quoted 20% video rendering time in some app vs the one plus 7

wait, nvm. the they have "different". the plus has another 100mhz on the single big core.

after that its down to TDP configurations.

my apologies. tho its a minor difference.

edit: after doublechecking with google. it appears they are quoting the 855 non-plus with the clockspeed of the non-plus

The pixel 4 xl uses a snapdragon 855 non plus, the galaxy note 10+ uses a snapdragon 855 non plus.

The One Plus 7t has the 855+ apparently, whoops.

Why would you ever consider the pixel? It is awful, if you want stock android go for the oneplus 7 pro (7t Pro if available in your area) but the note 10+ is still the best android phone available imo

I would just get a Note 9, as it's still fine, but $600 cheaper

Yeah thats true, I just wouldn't go without an ultrawide anymore, I went from S10 to iPhone Xs Max and I miss the ultrawide more than I thought I would. Wouldn't buy another phone without it

How long will it receive software and security updates you think?

This. IMO nothing the 10 offers is worth the "upgrade". That might change for the 11 (or whatever they call it), or Galaxy next year release. But through hole is a stop gap to under screen.

IIRC my Note 4 got it's last security update like Oct 2018. https://www.gsmarena.com/newscomm-32580.php (Aug the latest I can find on a quick google)

So that's... 4 straight years for the Note series. It's still going strong too!

I love my Note 9, and only miss having a replaceable battery. :( But I also use a big chunky flip cover to protect all sides + screen protector. I'd not trust any new phone to scratches/cracks. iPhone or Android... they so delicate now. :(

Not tried the latest Note 10 other than looking in store. The screen is beautiful. My bro has a iPhone 10 IIRC, he never mentions it though, I guess it "just works", but IMO notches are annoying, as want full screen video (aspect ratio of video + notch, but everyone does video aspect minus notch :( ).

[edit]

I had a Note 3! Whoops. :P

I love my note 10+ but I also use it alot for business.  It all depends on your use, if your wanting a bigger screen and a stylus or if you want a more "normal" phone. I hate how the Pixel 4 looks with its screen. the pixel says to have a better camera but im not a big photo person so I wouldn't know or tell the difference unless you took 2 exact same photos and put them side by side. The Note series usually has better times being updated as they are the flagship models more then say the normal S series or A series. I do hate their launcher and changed it out asap. Also the curved screen bugs alot of people.

So it all depends on what you want. the performance difference is so small you wouldn't notice unless your really trying to pay attention and have them both side by side to compare continuously. I say purchase based on what you want it to do or the screen size. The rest are just bonus features. but thats just my take as I have never tried using the Pixel 4XL other then weird looking photos of its strange screen.

The pixel is best at nothing between those three, iPhone has the best camera, software experience (imo) and the longest support from the manufacturer. Note 10+ is the best all rounder on android, just boils down to iOS vs Android the way I see it

Did you not say it was one of your only choices?

Yeah it was offered but I refuse to use apple products since they don't support other business.
