A build for my 11 year old....

Go to solution Solved by TH3M4DR4TT3R,

Thank you both, much appreciated.. My first AMD build and still learning.. I'm using a justop 500W power supply BTW...

HELPPPPPPPPPPP...................
We have been putting things together on my sons build all apart from the rx570 as I have no molex to 6 pin connector handy (arriving tomorrow) but I have found a fatal flaw in that I get nothing at all on my monitor..I have a mouse plugged into the mobo usb 3 port which is lit up nicely and a keyboard plugged in but the hdmi port from the mobo gives me nothing.. I have a 240GB M.2 drive fitted and have windows ready to install from a usb drive but it won't display anything...
Mobo is ASRock B450M-HDV, cpu is AMD Ryzen 5 1600, gpu is rx570 (not installed), ram is Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2400 MHz, DDR4, 2x4gb..
Thanks...

The R5 1600 doesn't have an iGPU. No Ryzens do unless there's a G on the end, so there's no output to a monitor without a GPU.

EDIT: Also what PSU are you using that doesn't have a 6 or 8 pin PCIe?

The 1600 has no iGPU, so you won’t be able to display anything until your install the graphics card as the onboard hdmi will get no signal from the CPU.

Well, how do you expect it to boot without a gpu? The 1600 doesn't have an integrated one, it will never output without the 570

Something like this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/JUSTOP-Power-Supply-120mm-Cooling/dp/B071RQRPFR

That's... eeeeehhh. It says it has the over voltage and current protections you need, but not having at least a 6-pin PCIe is usually the mark of a pretty bad PSU. RX570s can still pull 160W, nearly 200W in torture tests (games don't usually push them this hard though so you should be fine), they need at least a decent PSU to drive them safely.

This one is 38 GBP and looks to be decent: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/2PZFf7/be-quiet-system-power-9-400-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-bn245

If you can swing it I'd defo get a better PSU, it's cheaper in the long run than risking an iffy one and having it blow (since sometimes they can take the other hardware in the PC with them). If you're on that tight of a budget then it'd be better than no PSU for sure, I wouldn't push any OCs or anything on it though, and would replace it once you can afford to.

Agree with @Zando Bob that you might want to invest in a slight better psu, especially with a card like 570

Not everyone necessarily knows that, no need to be rude about it.

And to you @TH3M4DR4TT3R, i would reccomend the same as both guys said above, get a nice psu, it will be worth the investment in the future, because a bad psu can kill all the components of a PC

Main rig: CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X cooled by a Noctua NH-U14S; Mem: 16 GB(2x8) G.Skill TridentZ White 3200 MHz; GPU: EVGA RTX 2070 XC; MOBO: MSI B450 Tomahawk; Storage: XPG Spectrix S40G M.2 512GB SSD; Kingston A400 480GB SSD; 1TB Western Digital Blue HDD; PSU: Corsair CX750M Semi-modular (80+ bronze); CASE: Thermaltake Commander C36.

Secondary rig: CPU: Intel Core i7 4790 @3.60GHz(Turbo @4.00GHz) cooled by Corsair H60; Mem: G.Skill RipJawsX DDR3 16GB(4x4) OC@2133MHz (11-11-11-30 (1.6V)); GPU: None(for now); MOBO: Gigabyte Z87-HD3; Storage:HyperX 120GB; PSU: Thermaltake SmarT series 750w (80+ bronze); CASE: Thermaltake Chaser A41.

While I doubt you intended to be rude, the way you answered the question could be construed as being rude.
