Best cooler for overclocking i5-9600k?

So, I’m aware this question gets thrown around a whole lot and there are videos about this all over the internet, but i need some veteran overclockers to help me with this. Should I go for a noctua NH-D15, or a Corsair H150i Pro AIO? These are the most popular and best preforming coolers on the market in their respective categories. I’m a noob at overclocking, and so far I’m still running this cpu on a stock cooler. I’m still deciding on what I should get, but I’d like a veteran overclocker to help me decide. Looks are also a factor. That’s why I’m leaning more towards aio, but let me know wat you guys think.

Do you already have the 9600K? it's a fairly bad value CPU, if you want to overclock Intel for gaming at least get a 9700KF.

That said there won't be any meaningful difference between a NH-D15 and a H150i aside that with the air cooler you're saving a bunch of money, just ensure your case has a good airflow and that you also have a good motherboard and that's it.

Both are great performers.

What kind of features are you looking for in a cooler?

What looks good depends on your taste. What looks good to you?

What case and ram are you using?

Moved to Air Cooling.

Thank you for replying, I’ll see if I can check out the new black noctua NH-D15, however I actually chose the 9600kf (sorry I didn’t specify that earlier) I’m building a budget gaming pc. At the time, I got it for $218, over $120 cheaper than the i7 and it gets the job done. Anyways I digress, I’ll be sure to check out the NH-D15.

For me, I love the look of the H150i Pro, but I wouldn’t mind taking the noctua NH-D15 black edition. My case is black with a tempered glass panel tinted black about 50%, so it should match. Feature wise, I’m not picky about installation process or anything like that, as long as it keeps it cool I’ll take it. The ram may or may not get in the way, and the case has plenty of room. So far air has been the winner and it seems to have convinced you to switch, so I’m leaning more towards air now. Thanks for the help!

Just get an air cooler, something like the Cryorig H5 Ultimate or the Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 would do really well for that CPU, anything bigger is pointless. The Noctua NH-D15 is overkill as is the Corsair H150i Pro, an i5 isn't going to put out that much heat.

Can you be more specific about the ram and case? Model names?

The NH-D15 is generally hard to go wrong with. You should make sure that it fits though.

That makes sense, the cpu won’t go over 120 watts under load, I’ll be sure to check those out. Thanks for your input.

I’m running 2 sticks of ADATA XPG Z1, their heat spreader is pointy and gets tall in the center. Thanks for the help btw!

What case?

The ram is 44mm tall so the front fan would need to be raised which would make the cooler 177mm tall.
