I'm not looking to push my 3600X much if at all and I'm just looking for a cooler that won't break the bank and will be relatively quiet. I don't need silent.

I'm currently choosing between the CM 212 Black and this Arctic Freezer https://www.newegg.com/p/1FR-004G-00001

If anyone has any insight into either then I'm all ears. And if anyone has a better sub $50 suggestion I'm all ears too.

Thanks

Really? So I guess the performance between all of them is about the same?

Oh defintiely dont touch the multiplier directly, let PB do its thing. With PBO tho I dont expect a gain more than 200MHz, more like 100MHz.

Oh well then that's not even higher than the turbo clock. I've wondered if it's even worth overclocking the 3600X because it has such a high turbo.

A Neptwin, but you need to get an AM4 bracket from the company potentially.

it's the cheapest 120mm dual tower cooler.

You could also try an aliexpress cooler.

I'm talking about gain in both single core and all core workloads.

but really when we say 3rd gen are maxed out from the factory, we aren't joking. All tuning potential goes to FCLK and memory

Yeah I was looking for stock vs OC gaming benchmarks and I couldn't find any. I'm getting a 3600X because of Borderlands 3 so I think the X version stock is probably as good as a regular 3600 OC which is what I was going to do.

So I'm probably not going to bother overclocking it if it isn't worth it.

The neptwin was $40 last I checked, the Scythe Fuma 2 is the next step up but it's $60

It's actually really hard to screw up a heatsink, though most of them on the site are only 90mm heatsinks for some reason.

CM 212 Black

I was looking at this yesterday as I am about to buy a cooler for my 2600. The original not-black 212 is cheaper.

I have only needed to overclock in the past when I upgrade GPU. I think the 3600 should be able to handle any game for a while on stock speed.
