Can my PC run 144hz?

GriseBonden

Hi.

I was just wondering if anyone has experience or know if my computer (gtx 1070TI, I5 8600K, 16GB ram) can handle a 144hz 1080p monitor. And if not, what I should consider upgrading to.

Edit: Forgot to say that I will be playing Rainbow six siege and titanfall 2, and that is why im wondering :)

As in you don't already own a 1080p 144hz display?

Your PC is fine for it just OC to 5ghz too

But you can also just get a 1440p 144hz display, or 1440p ultra wide without issue.

Or if you do a lot of esports gaming go for a 1080p 240hz display maybe.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I would go for 1440p and Gysnc. 144Hz is niced, but Gsync is the best.

Gsync adds input lag which is not something you would want in a competetive game.

A few milliseconds, nothing that's noticeable.

My 1070 can barely handle 60 Hz at 1440p. lol.

It depends on the games and what CPU you have. I've got a 4790k and a 980 Ti (which performs almost the same as a 1070) and my 144hz 1440p monitor is a great match.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

What games are you planning to play? For most titles, your system is a great match for a high refresh rate monitor.

I'm pushing 144 FPS with much lower specifications than you would be.

You'd just want a free-sync display at this point because it's cheaper and does just fine.

G-sync is not worth $100-150 over free-sync, especially when nvidia supports free-sync now.
