The Ryzen 5 3500 is showing up in India

EpycZen

Some Indian online retailers have the Ryzen 5 3500 put up in their website. Although AMD only released a 3500X as a China-only CPU, they never released a 3500 non-X version. Here are some links to the websites and some pictures.

The IT Depot : shorturl.at/GNO28

MD Computers : shorturl.at/mCMR6

Prime ABGB : shorturl.at/kHLU9

The 6-core CPU appears to have base clock of 3.6 GHz with a boost clock of 4.1GHz and a 16MB Cache.

The IT Depot's page tells that it is allegedly a desktop CPU?

Thanks,

EpycZen from India

"allegedly desktop processors" from the top pic lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Are we sure this is meant to be a Ryzen 5 3500 and not just an error for the Ryzen 5 3500X? The 3.6GHz base/4.1GHz boost specs listed on the Indian retailer websites for the "Ryzen 5 3500" match the specs listed here and here for the Ryzen 5 3500X.

11,000 Indian Rupees is currently about $155 USD.
For comparison the Ryzen 5 3600 is listed on those sites at around 17,000 Indian Rupees on Amazon.in, or about $240 USD.

The Ryzen 5 3500 seems like it might be a good value option for the Indian market. Strangely it's cheaper than the 3400G (12700 Rupees/$180 USD) which is only a quad core, and technically Zen+ not Zen2.

The interesting question is those stores also have the Ryzen 5 2600 listed for 13000 Rupees ($185 USD) and the Ryzen 5 1600 for 10000 Rupees ($140). Would you buy the Ryzen 3500 which (based on the 3500x) is a 6 core/6 thread (without SMT) for $155 USD or would you go with either the Ryzen 1600 which is 6 core/12 thread, but with slightly slower clock speeds for less, or spend the little bit extra and go with the Ryzen 5 2600 which is 6 core/12 thread?

Still no mention of either the Ryzen 5 3500 or 3500x on AMD's Ryzen 5 website as of writing. I'm sure if you had the time and look hard enough you could probably find references to it in motherboard supported CPU lists though.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

Considering the R5 3600X is as fast as an R7 2700X, it probably makes sense to go with the R5 3500.

Rumor is the 3500 (the non-X model) is running around in the hands of reviewers. Do realize this a 1/2 L3 Cache model, where the 3500X is 32 mb while the 3500 is 16 mb. So this model might see a slow rollout across the distribution market.
