Aren't Kingston SSDnow about as cheap as they come? Been a while since I was in 'as cheap as possible' mindset when it comes to SSDs.

I think the Samsung 840 will be right for you. (Without the pro suffix) though warranty is set to 3 years, so expect it to last 6. With the rate of storage evolution, you won't be using the same drives in 6 years anyway (I hope :P )

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Bump for the M4 - I've had it in my system for a while now with no issues whatsoever!

I do builds for friends and family and I haven't had any issues with the Samsung 830 and 840 series. Newegg had the Samsung 840 120gb for $80 the other day, so you might want to check it out.

Definitely the 840 and 840 pro. I also like Intel 330's(used it before) but I'm currently on a Vector 256GB for my boot drive! Basically most of the mainstream ones are more then reliable and will last your quite a while. Just pick a brand you like and go for it

How about looking at Kingston SSDnow V300 or Plextor M5s? both are quite cheap and for me feeling like a good enter. BUT Plextor M5s have a lower write speed compare to Kingston v300 but read is higher by a little. Plextor M5s 128GB read/write is 520/200mbps, while Kingston v300 is like 450/450mbps

Intel and Samsung, I would say are the best quality since they manufacture everything themselves.  That being said, there is nothing wrong with a cheaper option just go with an Sandisk or OCZ SSD.  If you don't already keep good backups its your fault.

840 - pro variant for speed AND reliability.

It's the true successor to the 830, the stock 840 is a (slightly) inferior drive.

Desktop - Custom watercooled R4E/i7 3930k/GTX 780 SLI/32gb 2400mhz DDR3/Xonar STX/OCZ V4 256gb RAID 0/24tb RAID 5

Laptop - Clevo P370EM - i7 3630QM/GTX 680M SLI/8gb 1866mhz DDR3/840 pro 256gb RAID 0/750gb mechanical

Top tip Samsung 830 is cheaper and almost as fast as a 840 pro, mine gets 550  read & wrights :-)

Avoid the normal 840 non pro

Note: If you don't have 6gbp/s sata port your speeds will not be all that great....

PS: If you have gigabyte board DO NOT USE THE Marvell controller ports !!

I'm using a 64 GB Adata drive in my computer now, and it works great. You can get the 128 GB version though. I like it. I would have rather got the Samsung 840 Pro, or something from Crucial, Intel, any of the major names.
I would recommend it, but ADATA's drive's are a little bit more pricey. I can boot into Windows in about 6 seconds though, so it's pretty fast.
