UFD Tech thread will be merged here.

is it really the best thing to go back to one of the most expensive areas in the world, with one of the worst health care systems in the world.... or at least on the level with most developing countries..

go to germany, get some proper professional health care.. at way cheaper price, if you really want to do something for your son... i really feel for this boy.

It is interesting that he's going to America.  Everyone says what shit healthcare America has and here he goes.

Hopefully he finds the answers he needs.

what's the process like for an american? o_o

should be the same as any other, my father had an employee who had been told that he could not be saved, because his cancer was that bad... he had a extremely rich sister.. like REALLY filthy rich.

she decided that that was not okay, so they went through all the countries, japan, china, usa and so on to see if any specialist would help, they ended up in germany, and paid a private hospital with extreme specialists, i think 210.000dkk for 4 operations((6 dkk pr 1 dollar, so approx 30-35.000 dollars), and that is 10 years+ ago, and he i still cancer free.

we also use Germany quite a lot, for severe brain injuries, they can do stuff.. that many other can´t ... but you still need to do your research, and maybe use a bit of money getting the right doctor to support you... switzerland also has great specialists.

but it is still fractions of the price in USA, and i do guess that health ensurance will not support experimental things in USA... it will not be free, since you are not a german citizen, but still who the "fuck" would care, if it is cheaper..

i remember, that having f.ex. knee surgery, they did a compare of travelling to Europe getting it done, you would be able to do it 20 times for the same price, as one in USA, and that was including travels, and hotels.

price does not equal quality, and even though you do pay, a lot is still goverment supported, and pricing are still controlled, so they can´t take 20 dollars for an asperin, or 1000 dollars for a night in a bed...

That was my first thought as well. Maybe not Germany specifically but I thought that there are some damn good doctors in Europe here where the cost of medical care is exponentially lower than in the US.
