Just a wild pick didn't spend longer then 3 minutes on this, I'm pretty sure that there are things people would add onto it and maybe change. Maybe add a different CPU cooler or  add a optical drive, there's enough money left over to do that.

Keep in mind that I didn't add a case, that's something up to your friend to decide since it will be his build and he'll be staring at it for the rest of his life.

You can't just make the build on US PcPartPicker and then convert the currency. The prices are much more higher in Europe, or just about everywhere else other than US. Use the UK PcPartPicker, make the same build and you'll see that the final price don't match. (ex: for the second build, about 1150 pounds without the PSU/optical drive)

With the money you can save you could upgrade that i5 or cooler. You could also downgrade the graphic card to a GTX 760 to save a lot of money. That you can spend on other stuff.

That's the reason i also posted the 1250$ build, if prices vary too much.

But why even bother posting the other build? You could have made the build on UK PCPartPicker, using his budget and you would have been able to find better matches than what you propsed. (ex: a type of RAM will be on sale there, and not here. You didn't include it, but it would be better in his case)

But hey that's just friendly advice, do what you want with it ..
