So like, what all's the story behind the case?

 

From what I see it's become pretty coveted, why all did Corsair stop making them? is there a successor or will there be one?

It does seem to be discontinued, which is a shame because it is pretty cool.

It's one ITX case I'd really have liked to build in

I mean, I guess. But it was still a pretty unique case. Hope that Corsair releases some form of successor to it.

Well for me the love of the case started with these videos:

The main appeals are:

200mm fan support. This sounds counter intuitive for many ITX builders, but I personally love 200mm fans for their airflow-noise ratio

Design. Between Gullwing doors, Start/Stop Power button and carrying handle, aesthetically this is a unique case that stands out in a crowd.

Compatibility. With up to a 295mm GPU  clearance (you can fit 300mm GPU's with some moving around the front I/O cables) and 155mm CPU tower clearance, you can fit most normal hardware, plus two 3.5" drives, a 240mm rad side intake and an ATX PSU

Modding. the case can be completely disassembled down to the frame for painting, cutting, or whatever else you want to do to this case.

The modern equivalent to this now is the Lian Li TU150; though it's missing out on 200mm fans, it retains good hardware support and that awesome carrying handle! I was fortunate enough to get this case a year after it was discontinued from a friend of mine selling his.

Yeah its a super cool case, even though it looks like one of those big Dewalt radios that contractors use.
The TU150 will spiritually carry on

Honestly one of my favorite cases we released, and still running one at home and one in the lab at the office for personal builds.
