Installing existing win7 install in new computer?

OopsThatIsMine

Howdy, my friend is going to start using a "new" computer, I was wondering if his current win7 install (on an A10 7860k) would work on an FX 8350-based build without any tampering. I've tried moving builds with win7 before and it didn't work which is why I ask.

Thankya,

oops~

its called the solar system because our sun is called sol

This has also been my experience moving Win7 from one set of hardware to another. You can try it but really a fresh install would yield the best results.

I've had the opposite, always seemed to move fine, but then that's always been Intel.  Its certainly not recommended though.

It may become deactivated though and if you can re-activate it depends if its an OEM edition or Retail.  But then the same applies to a fresh install.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

If something will be wrong, use bootable Paragon Adaptive Restore 2010 to adjust os to new hardware. It takes few seconds and fix blue screen problem.
