What’s the best beginners version of Linux?

Hey guys!

I’m looking to install Linux on one of my laptops just to mess around with. In your opinion, what’s the best version to install for beginners? (I’ve never actually used Linux.

Thanks in advance!

I got a ps5 and a pc pretty ballin

Any ubuntu derivative will be a good teacher.

It's easy to install and has a large community to pull information from.

System specs:

4790k

GTX 1050

16GB DDR3

Samsung evo SSD

a few HDD's

for laptops i am fairly sure ubuntu is the way to go

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Thanks for the suggestions @Terryv, @Bananasplit_00 and @LabeledIt is a fairly old laptop that was having issues with Windows 10 running smoothly. I read that Linux Mint Mate would run better on older hardware. Should I try this or Ubuntu as mentioned?

is Linux mint mate based off Ubuntu? (I’m new to Linux so I don’t really know)

Mint is ubuntu with some nice things and some random ass problems from my experience. It used to be my go too though. Not sure how well it goes with laptops but you can certainly try

"Best" is always subjective. My picks for newb friendly distros include Ubuntu and its flavors (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, etc), Mint, Pop!_OS, Fedora, and MX Linux. They're all easy to use and have a pretty good support base.

For the screen is blue and full of errors.
