Anyone running a 7200rpm drive in a modern case <2 years old?
If so I want to know if you get any case resonance sounds or any other annoying hard drive related sounds.

Please state your case brand and model and type of HDD related sound issues in detail.

 

I also want to know even if you DON'T have any issues with sounds.

Again please state your case brand and model.

 

Please state location of case from your seating location with approximate location from the ear closest to the case. Grab a measuring tape if you aren't sure.

I have a Corsair vengeance C70 and my friend had a Masterbox 5. The drive cages that hold the 7200 rpm drives are plastic with rubber inserts, they cushion a lot of the vibration and make it virtually silent

Used a 3TB Toshiba 7200rpm drive in my Fractal R6.  No issues, no noise, no vibration, etc.

Have two 7200RPM drives and two 5900RPM drives in my Define R6. Between the silicone mounts and sound dampening, the drives are barely audible when spinning.

 

Is there some widespread issues with certain cases and resonance? I believe that this is your second thread about this, and this is not a phenomenon that I have heard of before. 7200RPM is 120Hz. Is that a magic frequency that causes your case to hum?

No one replied to my previous thread and my previous thread was specifically asking about only NZXT cases. I figured it makes more sense to ask about all cases.

 

My CM Stormtrooper has case resonation due to HDD's.
It has been VERY annoying over the many years I have had it. It sits right next to me, on my right hand side on the desk, about 50cms-60cms away from my right ear. 35cm's away from my mouse.

 

My case drives sit in sliding trays. The trays slide into bays into a HDD cage.

The trays are plastic and have little rubber grommet type things where there are push pins that push into the screw holes of the HDD. The rubber grommets seem to be thin and useless.

Used to run a 360GB Seagate 7200rpm drive in a Cooler Master N200 case and the drive was never noticeable in normal usage for me to hear.

Hard drive was placed in the proper 3.5" hard drive bay on the bottom of the case.

I also ran HDD's in my Antec Nine Hundred with simple screws into the drive bay, no issues there either.

Cases shouldn't have issues, if they do... Office Space that bitch.

Funnily enough my prior case to the Define R6 was an Antec Nine Hundred! 

 

My file server is in a knockoff Nine Hundred thats better to work in ATM.
