i5-6600K seriously underperforming

I've had my i5-6600k for a while now, I haven't overclocked, although I leave turbo-boost on, but my FPS is dropping like crazy and I need help. I've noticed that most of the time the FPS drops, it is when my CPU is at 100% usage or just below. Does anyone know a fix, it's driving me crazy and I'm thinking of getting a ryzen 5 3600 to sort the problem, but could RAM or any other component cause this problem? I'm also pretty sure my temps are fine.

[SPECS: i5-6600K, Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480, HyperX Fury 2133mhz DDR4]

If you use 2133mhz memory in single channel that could be a big issue specially when you're CPU bound.

I use dual channel though, & I have also enabled XMP to move it upto 2400mhz

Which games push it to 100%? I know for sure that BF V, and the last two Assassin's Creed games really need a 6-core CPU to work well.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

Yeah BFV Is sure one, but Fortnite is able to do it, Black ops 4, DOOM. But the problem is, is that even if I reduce Fortnite to Low 480p, It is reaches 100%! I know lower settings push the CPU harder, but surely not a 6600K? It seems constant in many of the games that I play.

The framerate not improving with the lowering of your resolution proves the CPU bottleneck. Are other processes eating your CPU resources in the background by any chance?

I'd also try a light overclock just to see if performance scales somewhat better.

Yeah I guess it is. I'm not sure if I can overclock though. My mobo is a ASUS b150 pro gaming. I'd be willing to try, but I don't think I can.

Oh, yeah, that's a locked board. Weird choice to get a K chip then.

I know, I didn't really know as much about parts at the time, and it was one of the frequently bought together products on amazon at the time. I guess I should just get the Ryzen 5 3600 and my problems should just go, or is there a possibility that this could be a software problem or a problem with any other component?

If you have a spare drive somewhere, install a clean Windows 10 1903 on there and then retest the games while monitoring with MSI afterburner. That'd rule out any rogue background processes.
