To Go Big Or Not?

Mind_001

I currently have 3x 27" monitors. 2x DELL are 27" normal size, other is a 27" Samsug, is wide curved.

TBH, I like my monitors, but... They are dang bulky. (being LCDs)

Is it considered a good thing to have one 50"+ screen, or have 3x 27" ones?

Really, I do not need my 3 monitors. I have stopped doing web work for a few years now. So, I do not need 2+ screens. Just what I had on me...

IF I had one monitor, I would wall mount it. So I can get a small desk just for my keyboard, mouse, and speaker.

I can understanding not "needing" 3 monitors, but I couldn't live without 2. I think having 2 monitors is a must for pretty much anything lol.

Well, being I'm using Linux (ArcoLinux in particular) You can run several desktops on one screen, So I don't think this is a letdown.

TBH, I ran dual screens ever since Windows XP. But, since I moved over to Linux, Do I REALLY need them anymore?

If you don't need them I'd drop down to one. I went from 2 22" monitors to a single 29", and I don't really regret it. I'm looking for it's replacement, but so far it's looking like it might be a 32" monitor, as I don't lose anything.

I used to think that, but it's pretty easy to adapt to. Especially if you don't do anything that requires two.

So, there's no such thing as to big.  Its all abut PPi and viewing distance. For example at a viewing distance around say 4 feet you would really only want to go as big as 43" at 4k resolution. Any bigger , and as PPi lowers, ull be sitting to close.

That said, if you want to go somewhere in between a single large 16:9 display and multiple smaller ones, consider an utlra wide 21:9 or a super ultra wide 32:9 display.

A 5120x1440 49" super ultra wide monitor is as tall as a 27" 16:9 monitor but twice as wide.

you can also get 3840 x 1080 variants.

CPU: Intel i7 3930k w/OC & EK Supremacy EVO Block | Motherboard: Asus P9x79 Pro  | RAM: G.Skill 4x4 1866 CL9 | PSU: Seasonic Platinum 1000w Corsair RM 750w Gold (2021)|

VDU: Panasonic 42" Plasma | GPU: Gigabyte 1080ti Gaming OC & Barrow Block (RIP)...GTX 980ti | Sound: Asus Xonar D2X - Z5500 -FiiO X3K DAP/DAC - ATH-M50S | Case: Phantek Enthoo Primo White |

Storage: Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSD + WD Blue 1TB SSD | Cooling: XSPC D5 Photon 270 Res & Pump | 2x XSPC AX240 White Rads | NexXxos Monsta 80x240 Rad P/P | NF-A12x25 fans |

Well, I can get Linus' LG 49", but that's $1200...

Was looking at this: https://www.newegg.com/p/0JC-000P-00B71

But, I think it is too big for me...

Well you did mention a 50" screen, a normal 50" 16:9 is roughly 110cm wide, a 49" 32:9 display like the one u linked is only 10cm wider, and has about 30cm less height to it. So theres not that much difference in width tbh, infact i would say a 49" ultra wide like the one u linked would 'look' far less 'huge' compared to a 50" due to be almost half the height..

TBH, I think I would be ok with a 34"

Was looking at this one, 59% off: https://www.newegg.com/lg-34bl650-b-34-uw-uxga/p/N82E16824025948

I know, prices will change, BUT to give you an idea.

So a 21:9 . .sure thats fine, nothing wrong with them from a size and aspect ratio perspective.

Check out the below link for rtings search feature.

you can also manually check other reviews sites like tftcentral for reviews on specific monitors.
