New use for i7 3770 pc

Hi everyone

Right now I have at home a server with a Supermicro X9SCI-LN4F + i3-2100+ 4gb DDR3 ECC, running Openmediavault 4, that I use for backup things, transmission server and plex server. The thing is that I'm going to update my working machine with new mobo, cpu, gpu and case, and my actual system that is a i7 3770, Asrock Z77-Pro4, 16gb DDR3 and RX 580, that need a new use.

I'm think to convert it on a server and use it as combo with the Supermicro server as the Supermicro has 4 Gigabit ports that I bond to have more bandwidth + ipmi port. But the thing is that the Supermicro server with the i3 it's not really good for transcode for plex when I'm playing something remotely, so the i7 machine should be better to that kind of work.

It's worth to use them as combo? or just sell the i7 machine?

And how to use them together? Maybe move to better server os than Openmediavault?

Thanks in advance for your tips!

Guille.

Why not use the i7 machine just for Plex? You might get better results.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
