How do I grow my youtube channel ?

Faisal A

I have been making videos for over 6 months now and I am still at 53 subscribers. I don't know what I am doing wrong but my impressions and views are really low. I do not know what to do. I want to get 1k by the end of the year but I know that will never happen. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong ?

If you want me to see your reply, please tag me @Faisal A

You should run your channel in a way that you enjoy, pushing out content you enjoy and less about "I want X million subscribers by Y". Video wise, the youtube machine likes consistency and quantity and 6 months also isn't that long (though YT is a bit difficult for starting channels nowadays I've learned from hearsay, because of the algorithm).

On your videos: in my opinion there is very little actual content. The information you give are screenshots of webpages, pictures and powerpoint slides, which on its own may not be a bad way to start, but: the content is not really engaging. It's just pictures and slides. There's no voice over, no sound or the (in my opinion) distracting techno-whatever background music.

There's also no clear theme to the channel. I'd suggest starting smaller. Pick a few things and do them well, rather than trying to cover from 3D printers to computer software all in one go. You need to tailor to a market.

Let's re-frame the question first. If you're only concern is subscriber count, then quit. You might get somewhere, someday, but you're doing it for the wrong reasons and there are plenty of those around already.

If you're doing it because you have a passion you want to share, then by all means let's continue.

Perhaps the question should be, "What can I do to add value to my videos and to get more people interested in both finishing my video, and wanting to watch another ?"

First and foremost, the three videos I watched weren't bad, except that silent movies went away for a reason, and even those had accompanying music. There are free music databases you can use audio from to add a little sound to your videos, but actually having a human talking is going to be more interesting to anyone because they're going to want to relate to you. No one can relate to a slideshow.

Eh, a couple of videos doesn't really cut it. I picked 3 videos at random, none of them had sound. It was really hard to sit through, and honestly I wouldn't explore the rest of the channel if that's what I came across.

That's the wrong way of thinking, there just isn't a reliable way to be successful on youtube. Just do what you enjoy and maybe you'll get lucky.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
