Looking for an ultrabook

After looking for hours on YouTube and other sites for the best ultrabook for my need I came to the conclusion that the Dell XPS 13 does the job for me . The one with the i7-8565U , 16gb ram , 250 ssd and 4k touch display ( 1500$ on Dell site)

My "needs" are : good battery ( over 6h ) , decent specs to be able to at least open an SOLIDWORKS file , screen with touch , good screen to wach movies.

What I don't like about the XPS 13 is that I have to go with the 4k version go have a touch display .

Are there better or/ and cheaper alternatives ? My budget is 1500$.

I'm from Romania and at the end of the summer I will leave America and I want to buy the laptop from here ( yes I know about the warranty ) . Should I buy the laptop from Amazon or from Dell site ?

Get a business laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook. The XPS 13 is not really that great when compared to real work devices from the premium business lines.

An X1 Carbon would fit your needs perfectly imo

Do you really need or want such a small laptop?

I was going to say that the XPS 13 isn't small, but then I remembered that it uses a 16:9 display. So yeah, it is small. Lol

The Latitudes are just XPS models in a different shell, right? At least that is what it feels to me.
Friend of mine recently bought a XPS13, great machine, I'm not so impressed by the Latitudes at my workplace tho.

No? Who told you that???
The XPS 15 and the Precision 5510/5520/5530 share a similar chassis but otherwise Latitudes are FAR more durable, use higher quality components, have superior external and internal build quality, better soldering work - it's an overall better device designed to last longer and not fail sporadically like consumer models such as the XPS series. Even the Precision 5520 has different internal components than the XPS 15 aimed at improving quality.

I'd love you to prove me wrong, but I can't believe that. It sounds to me like marketing nonsense.

Okay, here's a video of the durability tests that business laptops undergo.

Ignore the language difference - but you can see, sand, water, impact - it's designed to handle abuse and survive without issues. Try doing that to an XPS device - it will fail or be severely damaged.

You mean like the two times Linus left his XPS laptops out in the rain overnight? :s

Linus himself said, and I quote "if the device was actually on and not in sleep mode, it would have died" - this video shows them on and fully powered on. Besides, did you see the discoloration and water damage to the board in his videos? Those XPS models are certainly dead by now - hell, they probably didn't even last a year due to the corrosion and damage to the traces. Seriously, if you want an overpriced Apple-esque device, fine. But if you want a good quality and durable machine, get a business laptop.

To add to the above - business laptops have a water drainage layer under the keyboard - so you can, in theory, use them in the rain with no consequences. You can't do that on an XPS.
