Is there a modern version of the Nexstar lx with gigabit ethernet and support for sata?

Plenty of NAS options available. The least expensive options include the WD MyCloud series and Synology DS1xxj (1 bay) and DS2xxj (2 bay) models.

 

If you want to spend even less, hook up a USB3 HDD to your router. All modern routers have USB with "NAS" functionality.
