Ryzen 5 2600x paired with 1050 ti

Mando772004

So i was wondering my friend bought a new pc with ryzen 5 2600x and a 1050 ti and 16gb ram ddr4 3200mhz but he runs games on an old 1280x1024 monitor and surprisingly he was getting almost the same or more fps than me using the same settings i use in fortnite so i wanted to know if this was because of the resolution he is on or is it actually my pc thats underperforming now i know i may be overreacting but im always so worried that my could be underperforming.

Here are my specs : Gtx 1660 ti ryzen 5 2400g 3.6ghz and 16gb ram ddr4 3000mhz

Again im just curious if this is normal or not cuz man im always worried like i said about my pc performing way worse than it should

Personally I would just get a RX 580 and call it a day.  Cheaper and better bang fo your buck.  Same speed probably faster.

You have a little bit of Bottleneck with that Ryzen 5.  Actually with a 1050ti your pretty good and not really a bottleneck.  You should use boost on the CPU and things will be faster.  You should be able to play at 1080p medium settings no AA and get around 60fps sustained but it matters what game it is.  For 1204 resolution the 1050ti will fly.

what monitor do you have?  If you have a higher resolution monitor that is why your fps are roughly the same.  The higher the resolution you are gaming at the more demanding it is on your hardware, It also looks better.  Ignore anything you heard about a bottleneck.

The 1050 ti is like the lowest anyone would ever want to go on a gaming GPU performance wise.  You should be getting better FPS but if you have other settings on (higher graphical detail plus a better resolution) then that will explain why they are about the same.

If you want to see the difference do an exact comparison, set everything to exactly the same and test he FPS then.

well we both use same graphics settings but i use a much higher resolution which is 1080p which i guess makes sense @mr moose

you are pushing more pixels, use his monitor and set everything to the same detail as his and yours should be faster by a decent margin.

Hmm that's something you would have to answer yourself.  Depends on how much your into it playing fortnite i guess. And if you have the disposable income to make a purchase like that.

i can purchase it but i want to make sure my pc isnt underperforming because i dont want to waste my money and then realize that my pc that whole time wasnt performing the way it should. because i see people with similar builds getting nearly 100fps more than me which i find sooo weird @Beowulff83

You need to make sure that it is an apples to apples comparison.  Are they running at same resolution, graphic settings and is anything overclocked.  Competitive players usually do things like running the game on low- med settings or run at a lower res to get their fps up higher.

well yes infact someone running higher settings gets almost same fps with same res but with r5 2600 and im pretty sure it should make that much of a difference as fortnite is gpu dependent  but i will use afterburner to determine whether its the cpu or gpu holding me back @Beowulff83

Ok so i came to a conclusion that using competitive settings made my gpu usage about 50% which is not good but using all epic made it almost a 100% and my frames were 100+ sometimes dropped to 90 and mind you im running the game on 1080p sooo i think the people who i see use competitive settings have their card usage higher than me therefore their frames are way higher but i dont know what to do to make my gpu usage high when i play at competitive settings :( @Beowulff83 @mr moose

More than worth it. Once you lay eyes on 85+ fps, it's tough to go back. This Dell has been hitting $149.99 - $159.99 recently and I highly recommend it... 24" 1080p 144 Hz 1ms Monitor.

In what way, shape or form is this not good? Less usage = less heat. If your fps is where you want it to be, why give any care in the world to wanting more usage? You will naturally get more usage in higher demanding games.
