How glitchy is the 5700xt

driftz240

To current 5700xt owners, how is the current software side going, I've heard of a bunch of weird stories and was wondering if this was a big issue or just some outliers, because i was planning on getting one as soon a aib cards come out.

my guess is it's probably true that some stuff isn't on point for now the cards have just launched but by the time AIB cards comes out it will all be fixed so don't worry about that...

I posted a topic yesterday about the glitch 5700. I'm not sure about the XT, but when you download the software from AMD's website, do not use the auto-installer. There is a bug in the download that won't let you access many apps or games. Once you ONLY download the AMD software and the newest driver, you should be good. I haven't had any problems since I uninstalled the auto-installer.

Its not just launch, I have been using AMD GPUs for over 10 years and without an exception every single one of their driver updates caused more issues than it actually solved. Things got a lot better since 2017 but still every time I update my GPU drivers (which is something I only do once a year and only use WHQL drivers, not adrenalin or "beta") I end up having GPU acceleration broken in chrome and while rendering videos and I end up reinstalling windows. Beware that when getting AMD graphics, expect driver problems and dont update with every driver release.

Hmm.. Ive never had any problems with Adrenalin software with both my 570 and 580 though this was after 2017.

Same here. Have been using AMD card since 2011 will almost 0 driver issues. As long as you do a clean manual install, the chances for problems are very slim.

,@op, no need to worry, by the time aib cards are out, all release glitches will likely be sorted.

With 19.7.2 it's certainly better than it was, but definitely hold off until the AIB cards come out, mine sounds like a jet engine and I'm still suffering from stuttering in some games and pop-in, though the latter may not necessarily be the GPU/driver

yeah thats what i thought too but in the last 3ish weeks there doesn't seem to be that much progress compared to launch. Then again its only been 3 weeks, feels like a century lol.
