network issues on my Asus ROG STRIX z390-F

Hello people :)

I'm having a problem with my network on my asus rog strix z390-f motherboard.

The problem is that when I use a 1-5 meter network cable, my internet won't connect, but when I use a 10 meter, it works.

I should also mention that the router, is upstairs in my landlords house, and it's a cable inside the wall.

The stretch on the cable in the wall is aprox, 25 meters.

Hope there are some viceguy out there that can help me. :D

Have you tried different cables in the 1 to 5 meter range or just a single cable?

Were the cables terminated by you or someone else (bought that way)?

Where did the cables come from? Did you make the 1 through 5 meter cables or were they bought at the store?

It's very strange that short cables don't work but the longer, 10m, cable does.

The 1m is made, but worked fine on my old setup.

All the other cables are store bought.

And, yeah. It's very strange :P I don't understand ?

Edited;

I've tried all the cables on my laptop as well, and they all work fine. ?

That's even more bizarre =/

I would be HIGHLY surprised if it was a driver issue but I assume you've updated the latest drivers?

Have you checked if EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) is enabled?

Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Right click on the Ethernet adapter > Properties > Configure > Advanced, it should be an option in there if it exists for the port.

I took an update on my driver. (again, now straight from the Intel site) and I got the EEE setting.

I've restarted my PC, and, nothing. desabled it, restarted, nothing, enebled it again, restart, nothing.

So, I'm still stuck with my 10M cable when i could be using 1M.

and now i have tested 2 shorter cabels (1m from wall to switch, and 2m from switch to pc) and i get a connection. but i still don't get why.

If someone have any thoughts of why, let me know :)
