i would exoect to be doable by using ryzen master, but yes if is a laptop and you just bougth it and already need to overclcock you wont get much more of it, other than lots of heat and lots of noise going together with system instability, sudden crashes or restarts

my brother has an old amd apu and over clocks the gpu, he seems to think its great, but yeah even with thermal head room its still pretty pointless especially for instability

My friend has had me help him try overclocking his laptop. You can download MSI afterburner and set the settings like how it is on a desktop. But it does not apply nor save them. So yeah the majority of laptops are most likely locked down.

Only possible if you have temperature overhead which you probably don't have. Also, the power brick needs to be adequate.

 

In beefier 1060 laptops + 8750H you could OC the dedicated GPU as the GPU was sometimes 75C at max so a little bit of overhead there.

 

It's better to undervolt as you'll not throttle and manufacturers give it extra voltage to make sure it will work fine when it gets to people. Even though it doesn't need that much voltage.

The only way that is going to be possible is to improve the thermal conductivity between your heatsink and your APU.

So if you do find a way to overclock the GPU i'd say you'll need to get that heat away with new Thermal Paste.

It does appear that removing the Heatsink is relatively easy as per the below article.

 

Comments appear that the effort in replacing the paste just result in any major thermal improvements.

I just replaced the thermal paste on mine with Grizzly Conductonaut. Unfortunately, it didn't make a huge difference. For me, it was 4-6C cooler. Using a laptop cooler took off another 3-5C. I guess the single fan just isn't enough to cool the heatpipes fast enough for the liquid metal to make a big difference.

Thanks, TBH +/- 5 degrees is about what I would have expected. Have you noticed any difference to fan noise? Is it spinning up less or not as high?

Honestly, no. I didn't run it on stock long enough to notice. The fans aren't that loud to begin with though.
