i7 9900K vs 3700x

Watch this Linus video:

The 9900K might be a litlle bit faster when it comes to gaming which I said that this distance can be covered with some overclocking. But the 3700X absolutely destroys it in every other workload.

And these are Linus's words himself; "The Ryzen 7 3700X mostly matches the Core i9 9900K blow for blow but is priced lower than the core i7 9700K which lacks hyper-threading".

So;
IN GAMING
i7 9700K<Ryzen 7 3700X<i9 9900K<Ryzen 7 3700X Overclocked

IN OTHER WORKLOADS

i7 9700K<i9 9900K<Ryzen 7 3700X

Where do you put the 9900K overclocked, or are we only overclocking the 3700X?  Love how we casually only overclock the underdog to eclipse the front runner's stock  performance.

Forgive me, but I don't take Linus as the benchmark gospel.

He, as well as a lot of other tech reviewers, have basically said "if you are going to do ANYTHING else" then ryzen is the better value.  That certainly is true, and my wager is that the 3700x is the value king and hot seller for some time now.  But depending on what you want to do with it (strict gaming, or gaming plus streaming) you might get a better experience with intel.  Will the value be there, for intel..maybe if the price drops further.  The original price proposition of 500+ vs 330 makes the 3700 blow it away.  With recent sales and 9900's out there for 440, that line is already blurred a bit for someone focused mostly on gaming +/- streaming.

Ya agreed, I was going to say, I don't think the 3700x (OC or not) is blowing the 5.1-5.2 Ghz OC 9900k out of the water in gaming (or an Oc'd 9700k), that just isn't going to happen.  Which again is why everyone keeps harping on, if you are doing other things (productivity) it becomes a different value calculation due to the bargain price on the 3700x.  It really depends on what you will use it for.  I think we can all be happy that this competition will bring prices down and put some pressure on intel to make something new (or stop price gouging so hard!)

I liked Steve's overview of the upper level chips.  It seemed like a good unbiased in depth look and comparison relative to what the use case is
