Just getting a better graphics card should be enough.

Yes, your CPU is quite old and is considered to be quite bad for this day and age but it is still your graphics card that holds you back in games.

I highly suggest something like RX 570 which can be had for around $100 to $120 brand new, that would be a big upgrade from R7 250.

If you want similar performance to the RX570 for cheaper, look at used market.

Something like R9 290/390 or RX 470/480.

Hey there, welcome to the forums!

What's your budget?

But like @WereCat said, RX 570, R9 290/390 or RX 470/480 are all stellar options and will give you a massive boost over your old R7 250. On a low budget I HIGHLY recommend looking at the used market, as you can basically find deals for half the new price.

So get a new GPU, then upgrade CPU and motherboard when you have more cash :)

Your PC isn't really worth a great deal TBH. I think you'd be lucky to get around $250 or $300.

You also need a budget. Saying you work a minimum wage job means nothing. When I made minimum wage, I was still able to buy expensive things.

It's called budgeting.

Like others above me have said, the GPU is holding you back the most. Next to that is the CPU. The ram is actually pretty fine.

This system is similar to what i use as my game server to host headless servers for me and some friends. instead i use the FX4300.

In other words, the cpu can run you a little while longer, maybe try upgrading to an octacore from the 2nd hand market if you have spare budget. should be able to pick up a 8330 or 8350 fairly cheap.

If you are thinking longer term tho, i would try save up for one of the ryzen IGP's. 2400G should be a nice upgrade which you can later extend with a dedicated graphics card.

This will however run you a couple hundred, this is the cheapest i could compile that will not limit you in the near future.
