Does SLI double the GPU memory?

Go to solution Solved by DirkaFat,

You'll only be able to use 2gb

Hey guys I have a new gaming rig with a single 2GB GTX 770 as of right now, and I was thinking of getting a second card later. Would this double my VRAM to 4GB, or would it just keep it at 2 gigs?

Thanks

no it half it, you need to get 2 cards with the same amount of memory so eg if both had 4gb both would be halved to 2gb so in total you would have 4gb

  • 3 years later...

Those cards who have DX-12, they will double vram. Check out the websites I have provided below:

1: http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/?gid=1701&graphics=GeForce GTX 1080

2: http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/?gid=3574&graphics=GeForce GTX 1080 SLI

Note: Check the memory section of both of them.

Then notice a difference. But remember only that graphics card which has DX-12 doubles vram.
