2700x vs 1700x

Hello, with the generation 3 Ryzen processors coming along, I have been finding great deals on the past gen CPU's. I am building a computer primarily for gaming, with some light coding on the side. I have all of my parts except the CPU, so waiting for generation 3 doesn't seem like an option; not to mention I am on a budget. Just wanted to know if the 2700x is worth the extra bucks over the 1700x. From my browsing, they both seem like monsters for gaming, although many people say the upgrade is not worth it. Thank you

Well in best case scenarios, its around 100$. Which makes quite a difference to me tbh.

In that case I'd go for the cheaper one.

Though the 2700 is faster, 100€ or so isn't really worth it (Assuming you're not talking in Down Under or Maple Dollars)

The 3600 is, allegedly, faster or close to the 2700 in multi core applications and the MSRP is 199 USD...

Anyway, for gaming, I'd wait for the 3000 series and get one of them over all last gen Ryzen.

think I'm gonna go for the 1700x as the price difference is quite large. If there happens to be a 2700x for around the price, ofc I will snag it. As for the 3000 series, as much as I would love to, my wallet just won't let me.

You should seriously wait anyways.

Even if it turns out they are too pricey (although the smaller 6core might be faster than the 1st Gen 8core) you could see if more dramatic price drops on both first and second Gen.

Just wait two weeks mate :)

I'd also agree that you should wait and see, for gaming the 3rd gen 6 core SHOULD beat out the previous gens 8 cores in most things IMO, especially gaming. If you have a b450 board or better you should be OK for 3rd gen for some mid-level OCs I think personally.

U should wait for the lowest model of the 3xxx series 6 core and oc it

it will have same/ better performance than a 8700k which is around the same as 1700x multi thread owed but much better single core performance which will be a lot better for gaming and no cost to production

-13600kf

- 4000 32gb ram

-4070ti super duper

Totally forgot that the new CPU's will be compatible with my x470 motherboard. In that case, I will wait and see if I can afford the newer 3000 series, if not, then I will just purchase a 2nd gen for hopefully cheaper. Thank you for your input!
