USB HDD Powering on but not showing up

Help! My USB External HDD (Seagate Backup Plus Hub 6TB) is powering on but not showing up on file explorer or disk management.

What can I do?

I can also hear the noise that Windows makes when plugging USB in when I plug that HDD in.

 

Update: It took 4 restarts and 3 different USB ports for the drive to be recognized

- change cable

- plug in other pc

Does it show up in another os like linux?

I had a Seagate portable 1tb drive where the adapter from sata to usb went bad. Same thing would happen where windows knew something was pluggged in and the drive had power. Not sure if that is your issue.

try another port
