Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU first for gaming PC???

TrxBoy93

Currently I have Pentium G4560, GTX1050Ti, 16GB DDR4 2400 RAM, 4TB HDD, 256 Samsung EVO 960 SSD...

I mostly use my pc for gaming... To be specific Apex Legends, PUBG, CSGO.... these are my priorities... My monitor is LG 21.5 inch 75Hz panel... I don't know whether it is G4560 or 1050Ti which has really started to struggling to deliver 75fps even in 1080p low/mid settings. But I can only afford to upgrade one at a time... Perhaps next upgrade after this would be 1 or 1.5 year later... So, should I go with Ryzen 3600X/3700X or Radeon 5700/5700XT???

My priorities 1080p 75fps gaming for game like apex legends, pubg, csgo... Period.. which upgrade would be logical??? CPU or GPU?? Is it worth buying Navi GPU now or should I wait for 2020 for high end navi? My budget is around 400-450$.

Thanks in advance.

Your GPU is fine for esports games just wait for Ryzen 3000 to launch on July 7th.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Yeah you should upgrade your cpu when you get the money, you have a major bottleneck especially because your cpu is only a dual core.

Your CPU with a GPU upgrade wouldn't allow many cards to really stretch their legs anyway. You'd bottleneck anything worth upgrading to. So the answer for now would the the CPU.

The CPU upgrade is going to cost a bit, since you'll need a new MOBO and RAM too, but it will be a solid foundation for a long time if you buy right.

Based on the Zen2 prices we've seen and your given budget, I'd look toward the Ryzen 5 3600X, a B550 MOBO, and 16GB DDR4 3200. They'll be available 07/07.

Here's something like what that might look like (sub out the B450 for a B550 when we see what the full lineup looks like price-wise.):

PCPartPicker Part List
Type Item Price
CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core OEM/Tray Processor $249.00
Motherboard MSI - B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard $109.99 @ B&H
Memory G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $74.99 @ Newegg
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
  Total $433.98
