This is why Coke + Pepsi taste different when bought in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Asia, and Europe. Same goes for chocolate, and is a leading reason why I refuse to eat anything but dark chocolate made in North America unless it's near freezing temperature. Cadbury & Hershey's chocolate from North America is absolute junk, whereas the stuff made in the UK & Germany is just delicious regardless of temperature.

Yeah chocolate should melt at room temp but they but stuff in it in the US to prevent it from doing so

Good, dark chocolate that hasn't had too many foreign substances added (such as milk) and has been properly tempered (melted, cooled, the slightly reheated, all at tightly controlled temperatures) will melt at 85-90 degrees (85-90 degrees is one mighty warm room). No additives are needed to keep it from melting in the hand (of course, any chocolate held in the hand long enough will eventually melt because of body temperature). However, even well tempered chocolate will lose its temper if exposed to excessive heat.

 

Most chocolate bars and less expensive chocolate candy use milk chocolate, an inferior form of chocolate that will melt more readily.

 

There definitely is a difference in the taste of all products that are sweetened with corn syrup and those sweetened with cane sugar, including chocolate. I'm prediabetic, though, and have to avoid all forms of sugar so I limit my chocolate to sugar free, dark chocolate. I much prefer any good, dark chocolate to any milk chocolate. I get my dark chocolate medallions shipped directly from the Russell Stover factory in Tennessee and keep it in the refrigerator to make sure it doesn't get overheated and lose its temper. I stock up during the winter to avoid getting it overheated during shipment. Russell Stover will ship it during the summer using insulated containers and freezer packs but I've had them get overheated during shipment due to lousy carrier (Fedex) handling so I get enough early in the Spring to tide me over for 'til Fall.

Nope, the coke in a glass bottle at the taco place across from me, says made in mexico, just regular old Coke from Mexico. Maybe it's how the can sugar interacts with the other spices and flavors in Coca-Cola. My tongue is super sensitive to subtle flavors, I can taste coffee and alcohol through almost anything and other flavors under stronger ones, hops are terrible, and I can smell things under other smells.
