How to shut down secondary HDD?

PopsicleHustler

Hi

I have 2 hard drivers in my system 500GB SSD that I use for my main things like windows, software, games etc. And then I have 2TB HDD that I use to store porn movies, photos, gameplay recordings etc.

The problem is that its fairly loud compared to the rest of the system, so it becomes somewhat annoying when it turns on in the middle of the night when I'm browsing the web without my headset on.

Is there an option to manually shut it down when I'm not using it?

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

Buy a 5.25" hot swap cage for 3.5" drive? You can then just pop it out at will.

Assuming you use Windows 10

Check your automatic maintenance time, as well as your inactive hours, it's likely that Windows has chosen that moment to defrag or download updates or some other maintenance task.

Only other option to actually turn it off, like others have said, is to unplug it.
