need help installing a new ssd (total noob)

i actually have an alienware 15R4 right now. i don't have an ssd, only a 1 TB HDD. i'm planning to build a pc in 2 months and want to move the ssd to my new build from my laptop. with that said, i don't know which ssd is compatible with my laptop. I'm looking at this right now (https://www.ple.com.au/Products/630707/Crucial-MX500-500GB-M2-2280-SSD). can someone check and confirm if this'll work on my laptop and on my new build as well. i did some research on the types of ssds and all but i'm not smart enough to know which one i should go for. pls suggest. thankyou in advance ❤️

You have two M.2-2280 slots in there, one can run both SATA and NVMe (PCIe) drive, one can only run NVMe. The one you picked will run in one of the ports so that's fine.

 

New boards can all run at least 1 M.2 SATA SSD so you're fine there as well

 

The same SSD is cheaper with Amazon though

Yes that ssd will work as other have said though it is cheaper on amazon

thankyou very much. i found the same price on australian amazon as well. did you confuse it with usd?

I just checked PCPartPicker, maybe it calculated your shipping cost as well?
