Difference between models

What is the difference between corsair RM750i and RM750x ?

the 'i' in RM750i stands for iCue integration or intelligent*

Using a USB cable (that comes with the PSU and connect to an internal USB 2.0 header) you can connect it to your motherboard and control some stuff through it, like PSU rails and fan modes and such.

Corsair iCUE makes it easy to monitor power supply performance, toggle single rail or multi rail mode, and control fan speed directly from your desktop.

Cables on the RMI look a bit different (better IMO) as compared to the RMX, otherwise they are the same units if I remember correctly.

*I kinda made that up, but I feel like that is what they intended :P

May I ask in what way the cables look different ?

On the product page it seems like the 24 pin cable looks different.

Review picture:

Notice how on the review picture it has mesh on the cable (which that is how it is on the RM750X) and how the product page picture has an individual wire look.

it may be a different year model thing I guess.

@DimaDSer are you referring to the Corsair RM750x or the Corsair RM750x (2018)? They are different so it's important to know which one. If you have a link to the unit you're looking at we'll be able to tell you which one it is.
Since the RM750x is older, I'm going to assume it's the newer RM750x (2018) that you're looking at, so the information I provide below is for the RM750x (2018) model.

Nope, different platforms. The RMi platform is the same used in the HXi (but with different components used hence the different efficiency rating).
Edit: Correction, the original RMx used the same platform as the RMi with a few changes.

Corsair product page picture:

Both the RMi and RMx units should be using the sleeved Type4 cables with in-line capacitors for the EPS12v, Motherboard 24pin, and PCIe cables, not the flat ribbon cables. Might be outdated images on the Corsair website for the RMi? The images I can find of the cables on reviews for the RMi show the sleeved cables with in-line capacitors. The RMi has been on the market for a few years now so Corsair might have only switched to the in-line caps cables after the release of the RMi.

  • RMi has multi rail & single rail mode (selectable through iLink with the iCue software) - RMx is single rail only
  • RM750i is 182mm deep - RM750x (2018) is 2cm shorter at only 162mm deep
  • RM750i comes with a single EPS12v cable - RM750x (2018) comes with 2
  • Both use half bridge with LLC Resonant converter on the primary side
  • Both are made by CWT
  • Both are 80+ Gold efficiency units
  • Both perform really well in regards to electrical performance (voltage regulation, ripple, efficiency, hold up time, etc)

Probably other stuff but my mind is drawing a blank right now.
The RMi is the better of the two series (Multi-rail, Corsiar iLink), but it also has a higher MSRP. If you're happy spending the extra money for the RMi, or if there isn't a huge difference in price, then go with the RMi. Otherwise the RMx is also very good quality PSU as well.

@DimaDSer what system are you powering?

The RMi has a better fan as well if I remember correctly. @jonnyGURU  is the best person to ask on that though.

Yeah.
RMi = NR135P which is a FDB fan
RMx = NR135L which is rifle bearing

They're both good fans though and will run virtually silent in those units. They're amongst some of the better fans you will find in PSUs.

Yeah they both run quiet from the reviews I have seen.

old one:

New one: a bit more, though the above one stays the same more or less, still different fan (Bearing), Controller, Multi Rail and monitoring.

I'm confused. Which units do you mean by old one and new one? :S
Neither versions of the RMx have been multi rail. The RM is single rail as well. There's only been one version of the RMi (hasn't there?)

Simple, the one that has the least differences from the RMi is the old one. That one just omitted the Chip for Multi Rail and had a different Fan Controller board and fan. That's more or less it.

The new RMx is a total different unit from the RMi with a different plattform. Also a bit shorter.

Still, at 750W, I'd go for the RMi...

Ah, I see! I actually never knew the RM750x (original) used the same platform as the RMi. To be honest never really thought about it. TIL

Well, the RM750 as well, but only later models.

Earlier models were made by Chikoney and failed in HardOCP Test (overheated in the medium load tests), wich was fixed and the unit got replaced by the CWT version you linked later on as well.

Ah that was a typo, I meant "RM750x (original)". Fixed it.
But interesting to know regardless.

"x" has a rifle bearing fan.

"i" has an FDB fan and allows monitoring and control via the Link/iCUE software.

They used to both use the same platform designed by Corsair.  Now the RMx uses CWT's GPU platform, with slight modifications.

Hi, sorry for late reply, mg system is

I5-9600K (did not OC yet)

Asus Rog Strix Z390-H

Asus Rog Turbo RTX2060

Edit: on the site of the store I want to buy the PSU it does not says in which year the PSU was released, it just says RM750i or RM750x
