<$70 low profile GPU (210w OEM power supply)?

This can’t fit as-is with some dremel magic?

Technically. Though you may at least want to put some duct tape on the metal so you do not cut yourself.

Hello, I hope you're having a good day.

I have recently bought an SFF beater pc (Lenovo m700) for $330. It has an i7-6700 and 16gb ? but no GPU is included ?

Full spec sheet of the platform is here: https://www02.cp-static.com/objects/pdf/3/3f3/1349820275_1_pcs-lenovo-m700-10gt0057mh.pdf

I would like to plug in a GPU for gta5, apex, etc at 1080p.
60±10fps preferred but optional, high settings optional as long as I wouldn't have to set graphics to potato.

There are some considerations with this particular machine before choosing a GPU

-The PSU outputs a pathetic 210w and I would consider replacing it, to my knowledge any TFX (SFF) power supply fits in this computer. I wouldn't want to spend more than $40 on the PSU since this is a bargain build.
Any suggestions/links for good TFX PSU would be appreciated as well.

- Budget doesn't allow me to spend more than $70-$80 on the GPU, it can be new or used (so long as it's not  one of those mining minefield models that are commonly abused)

  • gt 1030? (I feel at current prices [$70-109] it is not a good value, if it was $60 I would buy in a heartbeat)
  • rx 550 low profile? (safest option IMO)
  • Used firepro or other workstation cards? (On paper cards S7000 4GB which you can find for $70 sound like a great deal, lot of power and versatile for both gaming and video/CAD work which I do. Would these push the PSU too hard?)

- SFF pc, so card would have to be low profile or somehow able to fit this pequeño pc

Thank you for any advice.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Welcome to the LTT forums! If you choose to go with a 1030 make sure that you get the GDDR5 variant because the DDR4 one is garbage, and cost almost as much. With the rest the build I highly recommend trying to find the money for a 1050 or 1050ti.

Thank you, do you guys think that the PSU can handle it?

I'll need to do a bit of research to confirm, but I am pretty sure that it just barely can.

GTX 750 Ti. I've used gazillions of those in their low-profile variant to power Gamerplex conversions, and the Opti 790 SFF only uses something like a 220W PSU.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Idk if these results are acccurate (estimate seems a little high as even without any GPU it goes over 210)

No, those results are not accurate. PSU calculators overestimate and are almost always inaccurate.

I recommend either a GTX 750 Ti, GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti. Your PSU should be enough to handle them since they're all low-power cards.

They are always a bit high, and as these are corporate computers they are highly optimized to be power efficient.

Also, there's not really any such thing as a "good" TFX PSU anymore. They're all either loud AF server units or "Replace Power" dumpster fires to swapping in when the OEM unit on your 2008 Optiplex 760 takes a poop.

sweet, yeah with the be quiet calculator the max is under 200 even with 750ti, should be gravy

I would reccomend the Be Quiet PSU calculator it's pretty close in calculating how much wattage You need. But i would listen to people who test a lot of system.

Thanks for sharing that one

i cry evertim, I'm surprised the 750ti is still pulling. I put one in a mini itx build around 4 or 5 years ago and it cost about as much as it does today.

The 750ti draws as much as a 1050, so you should be fine.

Even with the gpu it would still be under 200W like 160W or something. But for reference it's pretty good.

Idk about power draw, but the GTX 970 is awesome and costs around 80-90$ used.

Yeah sorry, but the 970 is neither available in a low profile form factor, AND draws twice as much as a 1050, so it does not fit the bill, it would be nice, but it would cost to much to integrate.

Literally google a picture of it. 2 6-pin power cables. The card uses as much power as the whole PSU can supply, possibly even more.

Yeah I imagine the OC versions do, but the base spec ones use 145 watts.... as much as the entire rest of the system.

I would have to supplement it with Linus' power generating bicycle ?

I was thinking 8pin max for a second - although they are the same except for the 2 extra grounds on the 8pin.

Has one post ever saved so many hours of sleep? I think not.

Your welcome! I understand those moments, it was only a year and a half ago I grabbed my 8200 elite sff off ebay, I ordered almost all of the parts before the computer even arrived, almost all of the parts worked as anticipated, though I ran into a incompatibility with my Intel ac3160 as I planned to put it in a PCI-E x1 slot, when it was a HMW chip, I had to buy an adapter for it, unfortunately though the Bluetooth on the chip refuses to work to this day.

Though do note there is normally a cooler that would get in the way of the slot nearest to the CPU so may need to place the card in the farthest slot from the CPU (I would any way as putting the card there obstructs the x1 slot which is ideal for a network card or something), which I believe is a PCI-E 2.0x16 rather than PCI-E 3.0x16, but even if that is the case, this should prove to be no issue as only cards of GTX1080/RTX2070 speeds or faster are capable of overloading a 2.0x16 slot.
