manga What is your Favorite Anime/Manga?

I'm a big fan of the romance genre and ones that make you cry but I do love shonen anime and manga as well. I hate to compare 2 different genre of anime so I sicked with one genre and just picked my top five in that genre.

Anyone got any slice of life to suggest?

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is one of my favorite slice of life/comedy shows. Seitokai no Ichizon, Seitokai Yaukuindomo and Ika Musume are pretty good as well. Motto To LOVE-Ru is slice of life but recommend that you see the original series first, so that you get to know the characters. Both of them are very ecchi (especially Motto To LOVE-Ru) so don't watch them if you want something PG13.

i just had to revisit this thread to add   Kino no Tabi: the beautiful world it's probably not my favorite anime of all time but it's close to it, it has no big plot and it's mainly episodic. It's basicly follows a person who is traveling from city to city from country to country to see the world, i would call it a journey (hence the title of the show) but not so much an adventure s i was sort of expecting, still i just thought the show was overall plesant and i liked it.

it wasnt a joke if thats what you believe and I also said I would consider as well. Also in the specific genre I place Clannad in its probably #1 unless im forgetting an anime or two which i would be surprised at with my "great" memory.

Calling all everyone in this thread who has a lot of experience in anime! I'm currently watching Attack on titan and I'm having a hard time remembering names. My girlfriend says she struggled too with remembering names at the beginning of anime series. Any tips?

If the names are in japanese and your me you wont remember the names especially with only one watch though (i made a new term yea). If its english dubbed and your me and you remember names 1 day after finishing the first watch through a miracle has happened. This is why i resort to describing character by their traits and allow someone who remembers to tell me. If they dont tell me they more or less still get it and are probably in the same boat as me. Also with all the anime I have watched i only remember the most impressionable characters names and not by choice.

I was fine with Korra because it was english dubbed. I remember most names form that series. I think the japanese in the background of aot is putting me off :P They aren't too unusual names though.

It is quite difficult to remember so many at once. I usually try to remember the main ones (Eren, etc.)

You should try to learn all the top 10 soldiers that graduated + the few commanders... Luckily they all look very different and have very different personalities.

theres more of those than you think, im not saying there are a lot but their defintly far more that just kino. Also what do you mean slice of life makes it shallow? Is there something that would make it not slice of life?

The definition of slice of life is pretty vague to begin with. For example I don't consider K-ON (the first season) slice of life since it has a linear story you can follow, and strong character development through the show. Toaru Kangku no Railgun is more like a slice of life show, since it has short story arcs and are fairly episodic.

Mondaiji-tachi was pretty funny. The OVA is out and it's glorious as far as fan service goes. Lots of swimsuit, hot springs, melting clothes, white liquids and so on.

 

 

You should look up Sword Art Online chapter 16.5. It's pretty... Interesting... Actually, I'll post here here in a spoiler. WARNING 18+ only!

Asuna plopped down naked on the sofa and glared defiantly at me.

"What...w-we're continuing?"

"It would be stupid if we stopped here!!"

I hurriedly complied. Opening the window indicated by Asuna, I toggled off the option buried deep within the menu.

Because of the hurried start, there was no romantic mood to speak of. Sitting on the bed which was slightly too small for the two of us, we slowly did as much as the system would allow.

The dim blue moonlight filtered through the window, casting complex shadows on the bed.

Since Salemburg has no marketplace, the townspeople disappear at night. The only thing that I could hear was the faint whispering of the lake, and my alarm-like heartbeat which seems to echo around the room.

By this time, Asuna and I had removed all of our clothing. We had been kneeling on the bed in front of one another for about 2 and a half minutes. I couldn't read Asuna's expression as she balled up her fists on her knees and looked down. I thought that I should probably be the one to take the first action in this situation, but not being able to predict the outcomes of any of my choices, I sat in petrified silence. I considered what would happen if I were to yell out, "Sorry!" and re-equipped minimal clothing at mach speed before escaping out of the room. Would she say, "I guess it can't be helped~" and forgive me when we meet again tomorrow? ―There's no way she would.

Remembering back to the distant past, I was only 14 the first time that I ever logged into SAO. The winter of 8th grade. I don't want to really recall how I was at that time, but I sacrificed all of the sexual energy that starts to awaken in all boys around that age in order to immerse myself into games. My fingertip softly touched the gentle curve that was Asuna's shoulder. Her body quivered sharply. I slowly traced a path from the line of her collarbone to the nape of her neck.

Asuna let out a soft moan as her eyes closed. The blood rushed to her cheeks and her eyebrows furrowed.

When they conducted consecutive tests over a 48 hour period, they found that most of the male testers who attended this trial period were unable to stand not having their genitals and gave up. So it was from the Beta testing phase that the genital parts were implemented out of a sense of necessity. It seems that this was also part of the reason why SAO players were not allowed to change their characters' genders.

However, even if you had your genital parts, the question that I had prior to the official start of the game (meaning, before the incident) was whether or not there would be anxiety over the lack of proper function. I myself had agonized repeatedly on multiple occasions over the inability to release my pent up energy, but now I saw that if the ethics code or whatever was disabled, then functionality, probably even ejaculation was possible.

While feeling like I had missed out on a lot by not knowing all of this until now. At this point though, I faced a new question.

Having the ethics code release function basically meant that online virtual sex had been planned with the release of the game. SAO had many underage players such as myself so, no matter how I thought about it, this function was sure to cause a lot of social outcry.

While teasing Asuna's cute slit with my fingertips, I raised my head and posed that very question to her.

You should watch Clannad after Kanon. It's kind of like Kanon, but much better and far more sadder. If you thought Kanon was sad then you'll cry your eyes out during Clannad After Story (both sadness and happiness tears)

The definition of slice of life is pretty vague to begin with. For example I don't consider K-ON (the first season) slice of life since it has a linear story you can follow, and strong character development through the show. Toaru Kangku no Railgun is more like a slice of life show, since it has short story arcs and are fairly episodic.

I dont consider story arc's and episodic to be slice of life. One the defining slice of life anime for me was BECK Mongolian Chop Squad. if Kino is not slice of life what would yo consider it?

 

 

 

Sword Art Online season 2 is coming out ... Went from SAO->ALO in season 1, season twO start with GGO... There is a novel for SAO, I read the story and GGO is boring but the side story about Excalibur Sword is beast...

My favorite anime is Mondaji Tachi, there's 10 episode and ended but there's a novel that continues from that episode and is still underprogress of translation...

 

Also SAO was alright but not all that great. You could tell what they were writing, where they were going, and who it was for in the beginning. The story of it at least the first part was better than Accell World.
