characters and animation in shippuden makes me cringe .. 

especially the animation fluctuates so horribly it's not even funny the quality is completely different going from one episode to another ( though it stays crappy throughout the curve)

not hating on the show or anything it's just that they make it harder and harder to watch for every single episode they release ..

I dont mind that because i LOVE the story, and they had to lower the quality from first to last episode of shippuden because they didn't have that much fans on first episode, now everyone wants new Naruto episodes and they need to post new episodes on weekly basis.

I dont mind that because i LOVE the story, and they had to lower the quality from first to last episode of shippuden because they didn't have that much fans on first episode, now everyone wants new Naruto episodes and they need to post new episodes on weekly basis.

they have always been releasing on a weekly basis, wether they had a headstart in production and didn't have such a tight schedule at first .. i do not know. But aside from that it varies  heavily from episode to episode as in 320 to 321 (random example) and theres no excuse for that :P, and they have always had a fairly big fanbase.

it's also stupid that they have like 70% fillers in the show ..

 

there are many things i would ignore/put up with or not even notice before i caught up with the current release cycle,(been so for couple of years) i didn't mind many of the flaws when i would watch 20 episodes at a time, but now that im waiting an entire week for 20 minutes of entertainment then those 20 minutes are of absolutely horrendous quality and adds nothing to the story.

If I had to pick one then I'd probably go with Clannad After Story. I was crying my eyes out for the last 5-10 episodes of that show.

Good taste fine sir. Naruto is aimed at <15 year old boys though so it's understandable that a lot of people will like it, and a lot of people will hate it. I mostly hate it because it gets so much attention while shows like Spice and Wolf only gets a total of ~25 episodes, while Naruto and One Piece gets like 500 each.

 

 

 

I've never understood the appeal of anime. What's so good about it over a TV show with real actors and arguably more real emotion? I find it hard to believe that anything can be more addictive or satisfying to watch than shows like Game of Thrones, Dexter, House of Cards, Breaking Bad, etc. I kind of appreciate the animation skill involved, but that wouldn't continue to grab me for very long. A lot of the really popular shows with strong followings are borderline paedophilic too, not to imply any of you guys watch that stuff.

Well have you given it a chance? It's just another medium for telling a story. Saying that it wouldn't grab you for very long is like saying a book wouldn't grab you for very long, it doesn't really make any sense. I think we can all agree that the matrix is a good movie (the first one that is), right? The Matrix is

by the anime called Ghost in the Shell. The new movie called Pacific Rim seems to be heavily inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion as well.

I highly disagree with your comment about it being "borderline paedophilic" by the way. Calling it that would be like saying FPS games are "borderline murder". Oh and yes, I do watch a lot of those "borderline pedo shows" and I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with it, just like there is nothing wrong with killing virtual people.

 

 

If you want to get into anime (which I do recommend) then you should check out:

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai It's a story about a group of friend who reunite 11 years after their circle of friends got split up after one of them died. The girl who died returns as a ghost but only one of them can see her. It's only 11 episodes long and really really good.

 

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica I can't really say much about it since it would spoil the plot, but it is really good.It might look like a cute show for girls, but there is a reason why it's rated for 17+ and over (the story is dark and tragic). It's 12 episodes long so it won't take that much time to watch (I marathoned it in a day without getting bored with it).

 

Bakemonogatari A show about a vampire who helps people possessed by different Gods, monsters etc. Might not sound that good at first, and the first scene (a pantyshot) is really out of place compared to the rest of the show. It's mostly people talking to each other, but the conversations are very well written and interesting. It is very character driven rather than story or action driven. Some have even said it's like an audio book because 90% of the time it's just people talking, and the images are just random objects being filmed. 15 episodes long but it's made up of different arcs, so you can very easily stop after each 3 or so episodes because the series is made up of several plot lines which only last about 3 episodes each, and then a new one starts.

 

Steins;Gate Is based on the story of John Titor. If you haven't heard of him before, he is a guy who browsed and posted on several bulletin boards in 2000 and 2001 claiming to be from the year 2036. If you're into time travel then you will love this show. It's dark and the theories they use for time travel are based on real science and could in theory work. It's 24 episodes long and it takes about 10 episodes before shit starts going down, so probably not a good show to start with.

 

Angel Beats! A story about a young boy (or well, he is like 18 or so) whom has died and is now in the afterlife. He does not remember his death but the other people in the afterlife does. He joins a clan calling themselves the SSS which is in way against a mysterious girl they call Tenshi (angel). It's feels a bit rushed but a good shown nonetheless. Only 13 episodes long.

 

I highly recommend against Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and those shows, unless you are <15. Judging the whole genre of anime on those would be like judging all TV series based on Family Guy, or the new seasons of The Simpsons.

Of course. I can't get enough of TouMAN bunching people in the face and Biribiri being cute. Speaking of Misaka, there is a Python package named after her. It was first called Pantyshot, and it used a parser called Upskirt but some people got pissed because "it's sexist" so they changed it to Misaka (and people still complained for some reason).

Maybe only 10 dubbed ones but I can probably that many easy even when picking though just whats been released in the US much less stuff that never got brought over. 8 years is quite a long time which means quite a lot of anime.
